These past couple of days, I’ve been musing over how I can keep returning to a track of music again and again, while it’s not the same for a book. At least, not with the frequency of a music track. With a story, there is a finite ending to it, everything is revealed, there is nothing more to know. Comics, by nature of their length and easy readability (as compared...

The Year of the Snake
The Year of the Snake is a short comic story which we did for Motherland magazine’s Issue No. 6 themed ‘Prisons’.
However, this wasn’t the story we set out to tell initially. That story, had it come out, would have been a rare, once in a lifetime opportunity… where we would have adapted a beloved (autobiographical) tale from Kerala’s favourite storyteller...

Be Selfish. Help Wikipedia.
Adman David Ogilvy recommended pursuing knowledge like a pig pursues truffles. If he was around he would have appreciated how this pursuit has become more like a hop, skip and jump with Wikipedia around. When you Google a famous name, place or thing, in all probability Google will point you to Wikipedia. A relatively young non-profit, Wikipedia, the encyclopedia which anyone can edit, is...

The making of 'deep blue sea'
2 weeks ago, the Manta Ray team was standing around a large, cardboard box that had just come from Delhi. Inside the box were colourful pieces of thick paper, all part of a 16ft x 9ft jigsaw puzzle-like canvas that we were to assemble at the following day (October 22nd), at our stall no. 5 at the Comic Con Express in Mumbai.
For the past week or so, we had been seeing work-in-progress...

A big leap of faith.
by Dileep Cherian
I was in Mumbai in 2007 when the Mint newspaper was launched. I used to wait for Mint Lounge on Saturdays which was a delightful read, unlike anything available at the newspaper stands at that time. It had everything I wanted to read about - books, movies, travel; produced well and presented in a neat and contemporary layout.
Later on, while we were dreaming up Manta Ray, we...
